Avenida da Liberdade, Lisboa

Many great coastal cities around the world have witnessed the sudden demise of their once-important dockland areas, and Lisbon is no exception. Full praise then to the city leaders, who approved a massive renewal programme in the old Avenida da Liberdade began as an 18th century park where residents could promenade in style. In 1882, the citizens decided they preferred a wide boulevard, where they could place their monuments in the style of the Avenue des Champs-Elysées in Paris. The Avenida de Liberdade is 1.2 kilometre long and connects the Praça dos Restauradores to the Praça do Marquês de Pombal. Along its and adjacent shady pavements, many grand hotels, banks, and high-end shops wait for your visit. As you stroll along the avenue, you have the opportunity to admire the façades of many fine commercial buildings in traditional style. We allow just quick peak: here you can find some of the World’s finest shops such as Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, Cartier and Gucci just to mention a few.
